What is

Positive Psychotherapy

Positive psychotherapy is a method that originated in the 1960s in Germany. Although it is rooted in the psychodynamic current, it differs from it in many respects. Positive psychotherapy primarily emphasises the mobilisation of the client’s existing capacities and potential for self-help rather than focusing all the attention on the problem, which in this view arises from internal, predominantly unconscious conflicts. The process of recovery, i.e. salutogenesis, in this view involves working not only on the symptom-generating area ( restlessness, insomnia, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, compulsive behaviour, addictions, etc.), but is also directed towards achieving a more holistic life balance between the four key areas of our lives:

The concept of Positive Psychotherapy is based on a humanistic view of human nature, which emphasises the innate human capacity inherent in our DNA to do good, without ignoring the dark sides of the human psyche. The method assumes that people have two basic capacities: to love and to know, and that therapy should help the client to reach their full potential in these areas.
